Welcome to Substack, Chisa, and thanks for this great story. I already knew the facts but mixing them with your life made them more interesting and real.
Looking forward to reading how you ended up in Rwanda!
Thank you Gianni for your comment! I'm writing without knowing how well the mix of my personal stories and well-known economic and social issues will be received, so your feedback is so helpful and motivates me a lot!
My pleasure. I have enjoyed reading some of your articles. Yes, I worked in Japan during the so-called "lost decades" (although I was somewhat insulated in the healthcare industry). Whenever I went to karaoke with my colleagues and/or clients, someone would load that particular song for me - usually without asking if I wanted to sing. Of course, I would always join in and belt out "Japanese businessman!"

Thanks for sharing your insider perspective. By the way, 勇気のしるし~リゲインのテーマ~ is my signature karaoke song, my "十八番" LOL!
Thank you so much for reading and subscribing Mark! Oh is that your 十八番!? Cool😆

Thank you for an interesting read! Also worth noting that Taiwan’s GDP per capita surpassed Japan last year: https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/news/5929760
Glad you found it interesting! And great point… Curious to see how this trends continues, thanks for sharing!
